Process Description:RainSoft Plant (RO) consists of the following equipments: 1- Pretreatment Filtration System: The filtration system is provided to purify the water from the suspended particles in the
feed water and it gives an extra advantage of protecting the Reverse Osmosis membranes. This system is composed of two Booster pumps which are designed to pump the required water and required pressure to feed the RO
unit. Water will pass through the fine sand media in the sand filter steel tank(not included) to catch the big particles from water and this gives an advantage to reduce the changing of cartridge filters which are fixed
upstream the sand filter to provide more purification for water. Water will be purified by the cartridge filter S-S.316 which will remove the small particles to 5micron meter size. The silt density index (SDI) will
measure less than 3 in this stage which is a requirement for the R.O unit. 2- Pretreatment Chemicals: Few chemicals are required prior to the RO unit for the sake of membrane protection.
Chlorine should be dosed to ensure non-existence of biological matter like bacteria, algae and organisms that foul the membranes if existing. The anti-scalent is another chemical, which should be dosed prior to the RO
membranes to protect the membranes from carbonate and sulfate scaling. Chemical dosing pumps type of and the tanks made from (PE).
3- Dechlorination System: The metabisulfite dosing pump is provided to remove the excess chlorine in the water before entering the RO unit to protect the membranes from hydrolysis. This system is fixed
directly after the sand filter. Chemical dosing pump type of and the tanks made from (PE). 4-Reverse Osmosis (RO) Unit: This is the heart of the plant where the dissolved salts are separated from the feed water
to produce the permeate water. A high pressure pump selected carefully with suitable operating parameters and stainless steel 316 material will pump the water with a specific pressure to the membranes (spiral wound
membranes USA) which are assembled in reinforced fiber glass vessels. Water will leave the membranes in two streams. The permeate stream will be collected in the product water tank and the reject stream will be disposed
to a proper drainage system. The ratio of permeate water flow to the feed water flow is called the recovery of the system which is 70% in the plant.5- Instrumentation : RainSoft Plant is furnished with measuring devices and monitoring meters to allow the system to operate in a full automatic mode and give the main readings and alarms necessary for the
operator and for the protection of the plant. The operator task is to record these data and match with the plant readings according to the start up data at the time of commissioning and watch the signals given so that
he can do the required action or call RainSoft
for assistance. This is in addition to his usual routine duty like filling up the chemicals, backwash the filters and other works as explained in the operation and maintenance manual. These instruments include flow meters, pH meter, ORP meter, Pressure gauges, TDS meter, temperature and pressure switches with controllers to shut off the plant when the limits are exceeded, and alarms to indicate the malfunctioned parameter like low & High level switches, high & low pressure, high & low pH, high TDS and other alarms.
6- Post Treatment Chemicals: The permeate water
is further treated according to the customer required uses. Chlorine is added for disinfections, CAUSTIC SODA is added for pH adjustment.
The RainSoft plant contains other features and it is a high quality system designed for the customer satisfaction. 7-Control System :All instruments (PH, TDS, Cl2, Dechlorionation & Operating Sequence for the Treatment Process) are controlled. |
